The "National Cybersecurity Agency" public legal entity was established on the basis of the Electronic Security Service
The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has signed a Decree on improving governance in the field of cybersecurity. According to the Decree, a public legal entity “National Cybersecurity Agency” was established under the Ministry on the basis of the Electronic Security Service under the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport.
The new Agency will carry out regulation and control in the field of cybersecurity in the country, will work towards increasing the resilience of information infrastructure, detecting and preventing cyber threats, taking measures against the placement of information prohibited for dissemination on Internet information resources, protecting personal data, as well as educating the population and organizations.
According to the Decree, the National Cybersecurity Agency is the legal successor of the Electronic Security Service, all its rights and obligations, as well as property, are transferred to the Agency. The Agency’s activities will be managed and controlled by a Board of Directors consisting of a chairman and three deputies.
The document also amended a number of regulatory legal acts, and the provisions related to the Electronic Security Service were adapted to the newly established Agency.
The Charter of the National Cybersecurity Agency has been approved by Presidential Decree.
