A meeting was held at the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic with the participation of relevant agencies on the development of modern urban transport in Nakhchivan city, expansion of micromobility opportunities and creation of bicycle infrastructure.

The meeting was attended by employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the State Committee for Urban Planning and Architecture, the State Agency for State Roads, the Nakhchivan City Executive Power, the Nakhchivan State Technical College, the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency and the Nakhchivan Regional Office of AYNA.

During the extensive and fruitful discussions, the issues of creating bicycle and scooter lanes on a number of avenues and streets of Nakhchivan city and designing the relevant infrastructure were considered in detail.

The discussions paid special attention to the essence of micromobility, encouraging the use of micromobility vehicles by the population, the implementation and development of these services in the urban environment, as well as ensuring the safe movement of micromobility users.

In addition, during the creation of bicycle lanes, the existing road and transport infrastructure of Nakhchivan city, traffic intensity and safety issues were widely discussed.

In particular, an exchange of views was held on taking into account the traffic density that occurs during certain peak hours of the day on some central streets and avenues of the city, assessing the impact of the organization of bicycle lanes on the general traffic flow, and determining the necessary transport and organizational measures.

The main goal of the meeting was to form a safe, comfortable and accessible urban environment for micromobility in Nakhchivan city, expanding alternative transport opportunities, and ensuring the effective integration of bicycle infrastructure with the existing transport system of the city.

Based on the results of the discussions, it was considered appropriate to continue the design work on the areas identified at the initial stage within the framework of mutual cooperation between relevant agencies, and to comprehensively take into account the transport and urban planning features of the city when preparing projects.

The development of micromobility in Nakhchivan is one of the important directions of measures taken to adapt urban transport to modern requirements, increase alternative transport opportunities, and form a more comfortable urban environment.
