Girls' Day celebrated at the International ICT in Nakhchivan
On April 23, an event on the theme “The Power of Girls in Technology” was held at Nakhchivan Girls’ Lyceum on the occasion of the Memorial Day of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva and the International Day of the Girl in ICT.
The main goal of the event, organized by the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and supported by the Ministry of Education of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, was to increase girls’ interest in science, innovation, digital skills and professions of the future, and to encourage their more active participation in the field of technology.
Speaking at the opening of the event, the school’s director Ilaha Farajova said that the fact that the event coincided with the Memorial Day of Academician Zarifa Aliyeva is of particular importance in terms of once again remembering her scientific heritage and the role of Azerbaijani women in the field of science. She noted that the life and work of Zarifa Aliyeva is an inspiring example for young girls towards science, knowledge and innovation. At the same time, the director also emphasized that technology has become an integral part of our lives in modern times and the role of girls in this field is gradually increasing. He noted that the main goal of the event is not only to demonstrate the opportunities offered by technology, but also to further strengthen girls' interest in science, innovation and the digital world.
Then, Gunel Mehnetli, Head of the Digital Innovations and Artificial Intelligence Sector of the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and her colleague Inji Hasanova, made speeches and noted that artificial intelligence technologies are developing rapidly and that this field is one of the most promising directions of the future. It was noted that increasing girls' interest in this field and their active participation in the field of technology and innovation plays an important role in shaping the digital future.
The speeches noted that today, girls' successes in areas such as artificial intelligence, programming, cybersecurity and data analytics are increasing and there are wide opportunities for them to realize their potential. At the same time, the issues of safe behavior in the Internet environment, protection of personal data, ways to protect against cyber threats and the correct use of social networks were brought to attention. It was emphasized that not only technical knowledge, but also responsible and safe behavior are important for success in the digital environment.
Also at the event, Digital Volunteers Gamza Rzayeva and Saida Aliyeva, graduates of the same school, shared their experiences and ideas. They spoke about the opportunities available for girls to succeed in the field of technology, the importance of digital skills, and ways to overcome the challenges they face. In conclusion, schoolgirls were advised to constantly learn, believe in themselves, and boldly step into the professions of the future.
